Rolling Thunder takes 32nd trip to Washington D.C.

May 23, 2019

Mayor Steve Collier thanked the gathered veterans and family members at the send-off ceremony for the Rolling Thunder's departure this morning at the Fort Harrison Veteran's Center. Collier joined Governor Eric Holcomb, Indianapolis City Councilman Mike McQuillen, and USAF Brigadier General Stewart Goodwin (Ret), who each addressed the group of 80 cyclists who will ride to Washington D.C. for the "Ride for Freedom" over the Memorial Day weekend. Rolling Thunder President Mike Clark welcomed the group and reminded the audience of the purpose of their ride: to bring awareness to the missing in action or prisoners of war who have served since World War II, and have not been returned home. The estimate for fallen or captured soldiers is nearly 88,000, and Rolling Thunder hopes to contribute to awareness and action for those families who do not have closure for their loved ones who have served so valiantly.
