LPD distributes scarves to children

LPD Officer Jeff Gray is adding a layer of warmth to children waiting for the school buses in the early hours as he distributes colorful donated scarves. "I put them in my car and as the temperatures dropped, I saw the kids waiting for the school buses," he said. Since he has a supply of donated scarves in his trunk, he is able to give the scarves to the children as they wait. LPD Chief David Hofmann said an anonymous donor provided 1,300 scarves to LPD to aid others. Gray said, "Most of the kids I've seen haven't had hats or gloves in this cold weather, so it's been nice to have these bright scarves to help keep them warm. When I see them wearing them, it makes me really happy that it's helping to keep them warmer and healthier," said Gray.
