Kiwanis honor youth service & leadership

Marge Crouch presented a check for $500 from the Kiwanis Club to the Lawrence Central Dance Marathon group who will be dancing to raise money for Riley Children's Hospital. LC's group has set a goal of $40,000 for this year's fundraiser.

The Kiwanis Club of Lawrence hosted its Annual Celebration of Youth Leadership March 13 at a breakfast honoring young leaders. The Kiwanis Club strives to develop service and leaders in each school in Lawrence Township, according to member Marge Crouch. The Kiwanis honored students from several service projects throughout the school district, including Emily Grecu, Lawrence Central; Maya Boraddus and Natalie Beyfuss, Lawrence North; Tristan Perry, Oaklandon Elementary; Izzy Allen, Harrison Hill; and Roxana Colonel and Zebee Villagran, Fall Creek Valley Middle School. Crouch emphasized the variety of service projects throughout the district and said Riley Children's Hospital is a recipent of on-going service by members of the Kiwanis Club of Lawrence. Superintendent Dr. Shawn Smith was the keynote speaker at the Sterrett Center.
