LFD Engine 39 Push-in Ceremony

Published May 10, 2024

Today, May 10, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the City of Lawrence Fire Department as Engine 39 was officially put into service with a traditional push-in ceremony! These ceremonies date back to the 1800s, after crews returned from a call on horse-drawn equipment, the animals were unable to back into the station, requiring members to detach the horses and push the equipment into the bay. Mayor Deb Whitfield, LFD Chief Bob Wallace, and Capt. Adam Reine gave remarks, underscoring the importance of this moment for our community!
