Did you know Oaklandon was originally named Oakland for the beautiful oak forests that surrounded it? Founded in 1849 alongside the railroad, this community quickly became a hub for local farmers. Oaklandon saw major growth after its annexation by Lawrence in 1979, evolving into the vibrant community we know today.
