Station 38 Closes Friday July 1, 2022
July 1, 2022

City of Lawrence Fire Department Chief Batalis would like to announce that Station 38 located at 4450 N. McCoy Street will close on Friday July 1, 2022. There will be no interruption of service to our citizens.
Ladder and Tactical 38, as well as Battalion 30, will move to Station 40, located at 9530 East 59th Street. The ambulance will relocate to Station 39 located at 4751 N. Richardt.
Station 38 is slated for demolition during the week of July 11th. Construction will begin shortly after that on the new station. This will take ten to twelve months to complete.
The current firehouse built in 1986, housed all of the administration offices and our 911 center. Over the years and with the increase of staffing it was time to improve our facility.
The new station will have updated facilities that will benefit the health and safety of our firefighters, EMT’s, and paramedics.
