Honoring Engineer Matt Partain's Retirement

January 21, 2025

On Monday, Engineer Matt Partain completed his final shift with Engine 39, B-shift, marking the end of an exceptional career with the Lawrence Fire Department.

Since joining in September 2002, Engineer Partain has dedicated over two decades to serving the citizens and visitors of Lawrence. Throughout his tenure, he contributed significantly to the department, including assisting the Investigations Division and proudly serving as a member of the Honor Guard.

At his retirement ceremony, Mayor Deb Whitfield and Fire Chief Bob Wallace spoke in recognition of Matt’s remarkable service and commitment. As is tradition, Engineer Partain was presented with an American flag that had flown over his station—a symbol of gratitude for his years of service.

Congratulations, Matt, on your well-deserved retirement. May this new chapter be filled with relaxation, adventure, and cherished moments with family and friends. You will always be part of the LFD family!
