Dr. John Kunzer

Community Health Network Executive Vice President John Kunzer, MD, MMM, CPE, was named Community Physician Network (CPN) President in January 2018.   CPN has over 1,400 physician and advanced practice providers.  As CPN president, Dr. Kunzer is responsible for continued advancement of the CPN’s two major goals of transforming physician culture and transforming patient care. As a pediatrician, Dr. Kunzer sees patients at Jane Pauley Community Health Center. 

Dr. Kunzer came to Community in 2015 as Senior Vice President and Physician Executive for the network’s East region.  Before joining Community Health Network, Dr. Kunzer served as CEO for Eskenazi Medial Group and Chief Medical Officer for Eskenazi Health Center.

Dr. Kunzer is a leader in transformative health care redesigns; achieving exceptional outpatient satisfaction and quality satisfaction scores, obtaining NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home™ Level 3 (highest level) for multiple practices, and leading the only Center for Medicare and Medicaid Service’s Accountable Health Communities funded model in Indiana. 

Dr. Kunzer completed medical school and a pediatric residency at Indiana University School of Medicine and earned a Master in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University.  He is a Certified Physician Executive from the Certifying Commission in Medical Management and a certified instructor of emotional Intelligence (EQi2) and Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessments.  Dr. Kunzer completed faculty development fellowships in primary care and underserved medicine and is a graduate of Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series.   He was selected as a member of the Indianapolis Business Journals 2012 “Forty under 40”.    Dr. Kunzer is currently pursuing his Master of Healthcare Innovation through the Ohio State University College of Nursing.  

Dr. Kunzer previously served on the Father’s and Families Center Board and currently serves on the Binford Redevelopment and Growth Board.   He and his wife, Amanda, are the proud parents of Jack, Mikayla and Quinn who attend Lawrence Township Schools.
