Mission Statement: To improve the quality of life and preserve property values for the neighborhoods within the City of Lawrence through the effective enforcement of municipal code provisions concerning minimum property maintenance standards, building code standards, permitting requirements, and licensing regulations.

In a continuing effort to protect and promote the health, safety, and welfare of our residents, the Department of Public Works’ Division of Code Compliance seeks to obtain voluntary compliance by working with property and business owners to prevent blight and enhance economic conditions throughout the community.
