56th Street to close on east side of Pendleton Pike in Lawrence

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces the closure of 56th Street on the east side of Pendleton Pike in Lawrence.

Starting on or after Tuesday, April 15, the east approach of 56th Street will close at Pendleton Pike for up to 45 days, weather permitting. Contract crews will reconstruct the roadway during the closure. Westbound 56th Street traffic will be routed onto Sunnyside Road and Pendleton Pike. Eastbound traffic will be routed onto Mitthoeffer Road, 52nd Street, and German Church Road.

Patrons of Crew Car Wash and Aldi should access both businesses from Pendleton Pike. Access to Never Enough Storage will be maintained via 56th Street. Poindexter Drive will remain open to traffic but only right turns will be permitted onto 56th Street.

In late May or early June, the west approach of 56th Street will close for up to 45 days for similar work. Construction is anticpated to continue in the area through late 2025.

Motorists are reminded to slow down, use extra caution, and drive distraction-free in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
