State-of-the-art Water Meter Systems with Lawrence Utilities
May 18, 2023
The City of Lawrence has been replacing all residential water meters with state-of-the-art meter systems. The new meters greatly improve the City's operational efficiency and level of customer service. Over 2,500 meters were replaced in 2022, and the work continues in 2023.
Lawrence Utilities contracted NECO to install the meters starting May 2023. Lawrence Utilities customers with inside meter’s selected for this project will receive a letter requesting you establish an appointment to change the meter. The letter has detailed directions for how to schedule your appointment. For our customers that have meter pits the installation will take approximately 30 minutes and water service will be disconnected during that time. The installer will attempt to notify the homeowner before beginning any work at the premise.
NECO installers and vehicles will be clearly identified. There is no cost for the new water meter.
NECO can be reached (toll free) at 1-800-624-6975 Monday-Friday 8 am - 6 pm and Saturday 10 am - 2 pm to answer any questions regarding the upcoming water meter replacement project.
