More than 600 Lawrence families in need received food for the holidays

For over 30 years, the City of Lawrence Fire Department and Fire Chief Dino Batalis have organized a fund to help families with groceries and toys for the holidays. The Firefighters’ Family Assistance Fund has grown from helping 3 families the first year to helping over 600 families in 2019.

Friday night, volunteers met to unload and distribute food donations into boxes through an assembly line. Saturday morning, participating families picked up their food. Warm clothes and toys were also available. Thank you to everyone who donated and volunteered!
