Mayor Collier appoints new member to Fire Merit Commission

The Fire Merit Commission is responsible for hiring, promoting, demoting, and discipline of the Lawrence Fire Department. The board consists of five members, with two appointments by the Mayor, two appointments by LFD, and one appointment by the Common Council.

Yesterday, Mayor Steve Collier swore Tom Taylor into his oath of office for the City of Lawrence’s Fire Merit Commission. Taylor replaces Shirley Miller, who has decided to retire after serving on the commission for 23 years.
