John Moore

Chief Moore was born in California but spent most of his childhood growing up in Mooresville, Indiana. He is a United States Army veteran, enlisting during Operation Desert Shield. He joined the City of Lawrence Fire Department in 2002, the first recruit class in the city post 9/11. He graduated from paramedic school in 2005. In 2011, he graduated from Ivy Tech as a registered nurse. In 2021, he graduated from Indiana Wesleyan with his BSN. Outside of the fire service, he has worked in several hospital emergency rooms including Methodist Hospital, Witham Hospital, the VA Hospital, and Eskenazi Hospital. He has been an ACLS, BLS, and a PALS instructor for the Lawrence Fire Department. His certifications include Swift Water Rescue, Rope Rescue, Hazmat Technician, and Confined Space Rescue Technician. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2023 and to Division Chief of EMS in 2024.

Chief Moore has been married to his wife, Vanessa, since 2014. They have five children: Olivia, Nathan, Aspen, Canyon, and Dakota.
